YEE CHEN JIE JAX
I’m currently pursuing a Diploma in Sonic Arts at Republic Polytechnic, where I’m developing skills in audio production, sound design, and music technology. I’m passionate about creating meaningful sound experiences and exploring how audio shapes storytelling, media, and everyday life.
Testimonial from LTA Freddy Tan (Boy Brigade) Jax Yee Chen Jie was a member of The Boys’ Brigade from 2020 - 2023. He belongs to the batch which joined the CCA during the peak of the pandemic period and also the batch which embraced the post-pandemic period where most programmes resumed. Jax was a dedicated member of The Boys’ Brigade. He might not have been the most outspoken of the bunch, but was always present for all of our activities and I had the privilege to see him develop in many ways through the Boys’ Brigade curriculum. During the Pandemic Period, we had the Boys explore their interests through the Hobbies Badgework. From there, I saw how Jax was able to discover his interest for music where he started on a 8 week programme, exploring bandlab as his assignment. Through the assignment, I was able to see him use his creativity and develop his passion. I can’t wait to witness his further development if he is able to be selected to be in this course, Diploma in Sonic Arts. I was also able to witness Jax’s development in other areas. In 2022, as we were recovering from the pandemic, the Boys’ Brigade Headquarters held an Adventurethemed Competition named BB AdventuRe:Ignite, which was similar to our BB Blaze which was held annually pre-Covid. During this Competition, the students had to carry out different challenges from fitness-based activities (running, group exercises, sprinting) to adventure-based activities (knot tying, topography, tent pitching, structure building, first aid, bicycle repair, outdoor cooking, kayaking). During this period, Jax also stepped up to be the leader of his group. Through all of these activities, Jax was always eager and open-minded, he was dedicated to learn and carry out each of the tasks. He was not afraid to ask questions to facilitate his learning. Despite his quiet outlook, he was still able to guide his juniors to complete each of the tasks presented before them. In all, I was able to witness perseverance and determination as the team had to press on physically and mentally. The team was able to secure Gold for the competition, which is a testament of their hard work. As a testament of trust to his character and abilities, he was appointed as one of the Squad leaders in our NCO Council. Jax was a responsible and faithful squad leader as he regularly ensured that the members under his care were always well-informed of the weekly programmes. He also had to take care of the discipline and welfare of the members under him, ensuring that his members always come to CCA in the right attire, and always be in good conduct. Jax was someone whom his members looked up to. Jax also has a heart for the community. During our BB Cares Project weekend, together with a team of 3 Juniors, they were tasked to clean the residential homes of the elderly living in the vicinity of a Senior Activity Centre. Cleaning homes is a new concept for the young team, but I witnessed how he was willing to try and was able to diligently complete the cleaning of the 2 homes his team was assigned to. During the end of the year, they participated in another project called the Boys’ Brigade Share-AGift Project. They spent 3 days packing canned foods, rice, oil, biscuits and other rations into hampers which were then delivered to the needy families living throughout the island. Through the 2 projects mentioned, Jax shared that he was reminded that there are vulnerable and lonely people living in our midst and he was thankful for the opportunity to give back. As someone who witnessed the growth of Jax from a boy to a young teenager, I have seen his development and I fully trust that he is a person of good character. I would love to see him be chosen for the Diploma in Sonic Arts offered by Republic Polytechnic and can’t wait to witness his further development in the next phase of his life.
